Dynamic Event Reporting
With Dynamic Event Reporting™ Ambient Systems introduces Active RFID tags with the intelligence to identify relevant business events. With Dynamic Event Reporting™ less data means more value: Ambient SmartPoints report events based on user-defined business rules.
How it works
Business rules – such as a temperature threshold that will trigger an alert – are defined in corporate IT systems or with a scripting language in Ambient Studio. Using our standard Device Driver Interface (DDI) protocol business rules are sent over-the-air (OTA) to relevant SmartPoints. These business rules are executed in real time and make SmartPoints aware of their context. This enables applications such as geofencing. SmartPoints determine their location and compare this with a user-defined geographical zone. When a SmartPoint leaves this zone it automatically triggers an alert.
A Business Scenario
Dynamic Event Reporting™ provides significant value in the supply chain for perishable products. These products are very sensitive to transportation conditions. Today, the supply chain experiences significant loss due to products that have expired before they are sold.
SmartPoints provide advanced capabilities to monitor and log conditions during transportation. But Dynamic Event Reporting™ also enables First-Expire First-Out principles. Users can send the optimal conditions as a business rule to a SmartPoint before transportation. By comparing actual and desired conditions, a SmartPoint is able to determine the remaining shelf life. Upon arrival at a distribution centre each crate or pallet can provide its individual expiry date. This enables First-Expire First-Out operations, helping to further optimise cool chain logistics.
Key Benefits
1. Identify potential business problems and respond in real time.
2. Optimise supply chain performance.
3. Enable Management by Exception.
4. Minimal communication costs (GPRS/UMTS or satellite).
