Automatisering Gids: Autonomous Sensors

In the Automatisering Gids, an article is posted on some of the work performed in the FREE project. The FREE project, which stands for Energy Harvesting Sensor Networks, targets novel applications of wireless sensors using energy harvesting techniques.

Partners in this research project are e-Novation, GreenPeak Technologies, IMEC, University of Twente and the University of Delft.

Bits & Chips: Interview with Paul Havinga Check out the latest interview of Paul Havinga, CTO of Ambient Systems and Professor of the Pervasive Systems group of the University of Twente.

In the interview, Paul speaks about the increasing use of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) and Active RFID solutions based on WSNs. Although the technology has been around for more than a decade, more signs are shown world-wide indicating that the technology is crossing the chasm, and is not just the playing field of innovators any more. With plenty of real-life proven case studies and business cases, early adopters feel confident to incorporate the technology into their IT infrastructure.

With his top position at the University of Twente and strong ties to Ambient Systems, an ideal situation arises to speedily incorporate the latest advances in WSN technology into market-ready products.
